Here are a few real fact about the real 16 Air Assault Brigade:-


The 5th Airborne brigade was formed in 1983,when the 5th infantry brigade,which had been deployed in highly successful capture of the Falkland islands in 1981,was enlarged and re designated.The 24th Air-mobile brigade was formed in 1988,when the 24th infantry brigade, was re designated and later assigned (in 1993)to to the Multinational Division as part of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps(ARRC).
Formed in 2000 to replace these units 16Air Assault Brigade has a strength of nearly 10,000 personnel and is capable of striking quickly and deeply into enemy territory,enabling the British Army to react even more rapidly then ever before.
The new brigade makes use of a wide range of modern equipment from the latest Apache helicopter to air mobile artillery and air defense missiles.Over the next three years the new brigade will pull together all it various elements and by 2004 will be fully capable in the air maneuver role.
When the last Aviation regiment is combat ready.
These are the:
* HQ and signal squadron.
* Pathfinder Platoon.
* 3rd and 4th Regiments,Amy Air Corps (ACC)and the 9th Regiment (ACC)

Widely used is the Land Rover Defender Multi Role combat Vehicle ((MRCV),which can carry a mix of weapons, such as a 30 mm cannon and 7.62 mm GMPG plus an 81 mm mortar and LAW 80.

Main ground fighting elements of the Brigade are found from the three air assault infantry battalions.

JOINT HELICOPTER COMMAND (JHC)   
 The UK armed forces' Joint Helicopter Command (JHC) became operational on 1 April 2000. Its first commander was Air Vice-Marshal David Niven, who had under his command about 12,000 service personnel.   By 1 April 2003, total helicopter assets of the JHC numbered some 454, including 67 WAH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters on order and whose delivery is to be completed by April 2004.   In total, as of 2003, the JHC incorporates: 44 Royal Navy helicopters (29 x Sea King Mk4, 6 x Lynx AH7, 9 x Gazelle),  306 British Army helicopters (117 x Gazelle, 117 x Lynx utility/TOW, 67 x Apache (final deliveries in 2004) 103 RAF helicopters (33 x Puma, 48 x Chinook HC2/2A/3, and 22 x Merlin Mk3).   The British Army helicopters include those operated by the British Army's 16 Air Assault Brigade (using Lynx light utility and anti-tank helicopters, and by 2005 to include 48 of the 67 WAH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters). The Chinook HC3 is to enter RAF service in 2003.
